Call of Duty: Black Ops 2: Revolution DLC Review

The first DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is brought in the form of Revolution, a new DLC which gives the player access to four new multiplayer maps, a new zombies map, a new zombies game mode and for the first time in call of duty history a new bonus multiplayer weapon. Sounds Good? Well then here's the question. Is it worth it? This will be split up into 2 parts Multiplayer and Zombies.

MULTIPLAYER

The Revolution map pack comes with 4 new multiplayer maps called Hydro, Mirage, Grind and Downhill. The maps all have interesting designs especially Grind and Hydro.

Hydro is set in a water works plant in Pakistan with good close quarters engagements along the sides and long distance engagements along the middle. The key thing about Hydro is that it has a waterway which will periodically flood killing anyone caught inside there is a good warning to alert when it will flood so you will not be caught off guard.

Grind is set in a skate park in Venice Beach California and introduces curves into the environment making you feel less secure as you cannot use the walls for cover very easily as they are sloped. The map is not very small either which makes it great for games such as ground war. The map is filled with close quarters engagements all throughout the map.

Mirage is set in a luxury resort in the Gobi Desert in China and is covered with sand dunes which can be used for cover and to your advantage is cases of who is higher or who can be seen by the other. The map is the smallest of the four and has an empty pool on one side of the map and broken down vehicles on the other side of the map. The map has many good vantage points which snipers tend to use a lot.

Downhill is set in a ski resort in the French Alps the map is comprised of snow and buildings. Running down the middle of the map are the gondolas which can be used for cover but beware the gondolas are always moving and if you do not pay attention they will give you instant death. The map has many key vantage spots which snipers love to fight over.

For the first time in Call of Duty history a DLC has included a weapon. This weapon is called the peacekeeper SMG which is a hybrid of an assault rifle and a sub machine gun. The weapon has the fire rate and mobility of a sub machine gun with the range and damage of an assault rifle. The gun is well balanced and is sometimes challenging to use against the guns such as the PDW-57 and MSMC.
